GROOVY PLAYGROUND — Azuri Jenkins, Dominica Greene & Akanbi
GROOVY PLAYGROUND The intention of this space is to experiment with the fusion of music magic, movement and the universal tools of wellness to improve our overall well being. You’re cordially invited to explore the playground and join us on this journey of discovery. PROGRAM Groovy Playground will commence at 7pm on Thursday, October 9 at Alchemia Studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Expect an immersive 3 hour session starting with some luscious sonic delights by Akanbi to settle us in. Once everyone is acclimated to the space, Dominica Greene will guide us through meditative, durational movement designed to open a path toward transcendence. We’ll take a 15-minute break before jumping into our final workshop with Azuri Jenkins. It will be a calming slow flow where we’ll focus on healthy alignment, softening tension, and creating space in both body and mind. Expect gentle movement, breathwork, and quiet moments of meditation. Open to all levels. The final 30-minutes of the playground is open for relaxation, connecting with your fellow playmates and a little boogie. Join us! GUIDED MOVEMENT w/ DOMINICA GREENE Dominica Greene is a Brooklyn-based conceptual artist, dancer, and facilitator whose practice lives at the intersection of movement and ritual. She approaches dance as one of the purest forms of expression; a channel of ancestral and existential knowledge. Her offerings blend somatic and durational practices to guide participants into trance states, opening space for spiritual connection and collective release. In her facilitation, she seeks to amplify dance as a universal force—not a skill to master, but a living, breathing rhythm we all embody simply by being alive. YOGA + BREATHWORK w/ AZURI JENKINS Azuri Jenkins (she/her) is a mother, full-spectrum birthworker, yoga teacher, and biodynamic craniosacral therapist based in NYC. For the last ten years, she has explored and shared the healing arts. Beginning her yoga teaching journey in 2015, Azuri came to understand the body not only as a vessel of expression, but as a living archive of wisdom, memory, and medicine. Through craniosacral therapy, reiki, and yoga, she developed a deep respect for the science of the body and its ability to support emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Today, her offerings weave somatic awareness, ancestral reverence, and spiritual care into intentional and inclusive spaces. Whether supporting families, guiding yoga classes, or offering bodywork, Azuri meets each person with softness, presence, and love. She believes in the power of conscious rest, rhythmic breath, and intuitive movement to restore connection to self and to the sacred cycles of life. SOUNDS by AKANBI Speaking from a place of child-like purity and unfiltered passion, Akanbi is the DJ (or, in his own words, simply “a shepherd to let the music play”) bringing his crowd back to what raving is all about: enjoyment, release, connection, and lots of sweat. The Lagos-born, New York-based artist refuses to confine himself to one style or genre – encompassing everything from meditation-inducing to hip-turning, his musical bouquet hits deep and burns slow.
