About

MixedArts & cultureCommunity

Celebrate the opening of Queer Cutups, featuring artwork by Deborah Bright, Tiffany Dugan & Rafael Santiago, curated by Hunter O'Harian. Join us at the Bureau to celebrate the opening of our latest art exhibit, Queer Cutups, curated by Hunter O'Harian and featuring work by New. York artists Deborah Bright, Tiffany Dugan and Rafael Santiago. Art historian David Evans Frantz wrote: “Collage perverts the social, political and cultural specificity of images, promiscuously excerpting and recontextualizing them without regard.” It is something that LGBTQ+ people do every day. Gathering and cutting, gluing and pasting, unearthing imagery, analog and digital, finding their place, these artists source answers through a time-tested technique that other queer artists have employed for decades. Read more about the exhibit, which is on view September 10 - November 30 2026, and join us for the reception to celebrate the artists, curator, and this exceptional queer work. This event is free and open to the public. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bureau of General Services - Queer Division is Manhattan's queer bookstore, located inside of the NYC LGBT Community Center. The building is fully accessible, with a coffee shop on the first floor. Nearby trains: L / F / M / 123 / ACE
