Help out at Whitman-Walker’s 40th Walk & 5K to End HIV next Saturday, September 19. Volunteer for Whitman-Walker’s 40th Walk & 5K to End HIV on Saturday, September 19. Volunteers will help welcome participants, assist with registration and directions, and cheer on walkers and runners throughout the morning. We’ll meet at 6:30 AM at Anacostia Park, and all volunteers receive a free Walk & 5K T-shirt. Please be sure to complete the Volunteer sign-up form. Casual attire is fine. Feel free to invite all your friends to join you there. Held for the past 40 years, the Walk & 5K to End HIV is Whitman-Walker's signature fundraiser that calls on community members to lace up their shoes and walk or run to support our mission of providing dependable, high-quality, comprehensive and accessible health care to those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The Walk symbolizes our continued efforts to find a cure for HIV and to stop the stigma surrounding HIV. More: https://www.walktoendhiv.org Metro Directions: Be eco-friendly. Potomac Avenue Station is about a 1.2-mile walk (roughly a 25-minute walk) to the pavilion. Important Note: Roads into the park will close to traffic at 8:30am so plan your arrival accordingly.
