Join our first hike, at Lower Carrizo Canyon south of Palm Desert in the Santa Rosa Mountains. This canyon is only open for hiking the last three months of the year due to its importance as bighorn sheep habitat. The hike begins at the Art Smith parking lot and gradually climbs south through soft sand in a wide wash which narrows as we enter the canyon with stunning folding and layering of metamorphic rock in the canyon walls. PROGRAM DETAILS: - Second Tuesday of the month | November 10th | 8:00am - Location: Art Smith Trailhead | Lower Carrizo Canyon Trail - 2.3 miles easy to moderate | 2hrs approx.
