A legend walks among us for our first locals night of 2026: Joey Beltram returns to BASEMENT. A true techno pioneer and titan of NY’s rave underground, Beltram is the man behind 1990’s stone classic “Energy Flash,” truly one of the most iconic tracks ever pressed to wax. But beyond that early hit, Beltram’s output includes one fiery ‘90s techno banger after another. “Metro” and “Game Form” on Tresor are essential, as is his output on Synewave. Since that breakout era, he has remained a revered presence, embodying the best of the genre in an ever-changing landscape. Rose Kourts and Sister Zo team up for a special collab. Both selectors are renowned for their mixture of heavyweight power and nimble, dexterous movement. Rose Kourts’ exploratory vision of techno mixes the slamming with the strange, calling back to claustrophobic jack tracks, scuzzy electro, acid wormholes and soaring moments of peak time joy. Sister Zo’s radical reinvention of bass music is some of the best in the game today. Rooted in the feverish, syncopated rhythms of the UK, Sister Zo nonetheless nods to a staunch tradition of midwest raving. There’s a timeless technoid spirit at the core of her work. Markus ramps up the intensity, with a blistering energy that’s counterbalanced by lurid, pumping urgency.
